This research vector aims at designing adequate
scaffolds and to control their morphology, degradation
and mechanical properties. Various processing techniques and different
biodegradable polymers have been and are being developed to fabricate tissue
engineering scaffolds, but these are far from fulfilling all the requirements
of an ideal scaffold, especially in what concerns to their mechanical performance
which does not allow for their use in hard tissue regeneration where high
strength load-bearing scaffolds are required.
EXPERTISSUES will use the expertise of several partners for:
- The development of innovative scaffolds using different
raw materials and several distinct processing methodologies
- To produce multifunctional porous scaffolds, with physical
and chemical properties simultaneously optimised for their use in different
specific tissue engineering applications.
